To be fair, even if they did listen to the words I'm not entirely sure they'd understand them...bit like a lot of people's view of 'Born in the USA' by Springsteen, it's not the flag waving anthem they all think it is. When I played American football over here they used to play it before every game at the Stadiums...

The States and Cannada tend be differant crowd wise - mixed gals,n, guys, whereas the U.K. its more like 80% male footers crowds on the Sir Sydney Shelf Stacker. I'm going to get trampled at the London gig, aren't I? *sigh* As long as my camera survives it...

I was well n truely trampled that night and what made it worse for me was coz it was in Blackpool, my home town where I have seen tons n tons of bands without issue and always felt totally at ease. I spent the whole of the first song taking off jewelry and stashing my camera and phone coz they woulda ripped my earings out and broke my watch n chain etc. They was outta control.... I always seem to end up stood next to those right wing morons and have often thought the same....how did they come to like The Specials and have they ever listened to the lyrics? I could go on, but I won't!!

Actually the Yob chant bit at the start of "Concrete Jingle" was Jerry Dammers idear.. And the "Come ,n, have a go if yer think yer hard enuff" "Bonedigging" Gulity Album - was Mark Adams the keyboard player in the M.K.2 Specials idear ... are all keyboard players soccar holigans!?!

Right...gonna bring my tactical anti-riot gear, then. Guess it's different than in the US, where mildly-decent looking women like me get protected by the big fellas at most shows. MOST shows...not all. Something tells me the London crowd would NOT be a good crowd to throw elbows and steel-toe kicks at when someone bashes into me...hehe.

Managed to get a few choice kicks in but mainly you just try n stay upright for the first few songs!! Every other band I've been to see people look out for you and blokes do try n protect you, not so with dem lot. Oh you'll also get beer chucked over you, but that happens a lot at gigs so prob aint much of a shocker, just keep fingers crossed its just beer.....

Beer? That's all? Heck, when I was in the photographer's area for the Club Nokia Specials show, I was Scooby Doo getting rained on by some complete morons behind me who were gobbing at the stage. Alllllll over my business jacket. Thankfully, I'll not be alone at the show...but I won't exactly be with someone built like Arnold Schwartzenegger...*prays to the patron saints of the Front Row of Concerts*

Oh ,n, watch for the animals who take a Sir Sydney Shelf Stacker in their plastic glass after drinking the larger - in the middle of the crowd and then throw it either behind or infront...

That's what I meant by the hopefully its just beer!!! Wish I could watch from somewhere less hostile, I'm not a tiny person but I'm quite girlie in terms of strength and I bruise easily....end up choosing clothing n bag with much care
