When soloing Roddy, what scales do you normally use?, Ive never really got the differences between mixylodian, blues etc etc, it seems that whenever I try and play a rare solo (im more rivum) nothing usually sounds right when playing in the key of the song. No I realise that if a song has major and minor chords you can play in the same position but 3 frets down - all very confusing.
So did you learn scales or just play be ear?.

I learned a few chords of a mate at school, then had a few lessons of a jazz guitarest friend of my Dads, but like a fool and didnt stick at it thinking i could do it by myself... Maybe thats why i sound a little bit differant to trained musicians?

Best way to be, why sound liek everyone else, Im pretty much self taught, just cant get a decent solo out of myself, I never know where to play them on the fret board, well sometimes I get it right, most times I dont. P.S good to hear you got the all clear off the Docs, it mustve been a worrying few days wait for those results. I remember my cousin going through the same thing, he was bricking it for days. He got the all clear too Im glad to say.

Glad you got the all clear Roddy. Worrying times in our household as the missus keeps getting breathless, and not just when I'm in the room! She needs to have blood tests and an ECG, trying to not look too concerned for the Kids sake.

Modern people are much different than the grandparents' generation who survived real deprivation and hardships. I've just read that TV viewership has actually risen in lockstep with Internet use accompanied by cell phone and portable net devices while reading and thinking have been on the decline. Hmmm, I really feel I'm in the wrong time and place.

Hmmm, I really feel I'm in the wrong time and place. I think I am too, although I use the internet alot, I dont own a mobile phone which gets me alot of criticism from people. I also like reading books out of those paper concoctions rather than off those kindle things, Im such a dinosaur........ I watched a programme on the subject of the human brain last night and it said that the average teenager has 20,000 words in their vocabulary, which is funny as most teenagers now can barely string 2 words together and struggle to communicate with the real world. Its a sad statistic that alot of companies have to pay for their employees to have basic literary skills nowadays as the kids are leaving school not being able to write or communicate properly. I think this is down to having to many computers in the classroom, when the kids havent been taught to write yet. Anyway this old grandad will stop his rant now.
