Mary Testani, Senior Manager, Business Systems with Deeley, Harley-Davidson Canada, in the office showroom in Concord, Ont. Eight years ago, when Mary Testani landed an IT job at Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada, friends were concerned. Ms. Testani came from a white-collar environment and knew nothing about motorcycles. But she’d heard great things about working at Deeley’s – and the place looked like fun.

Why would friends be concerned? If I landed that job, people would say to me 'well done!' and 'Congratulations!' And friendly advice like 'Don't annoy the boss.' But then again this is Britain, where jobs don't exist. So people would be very impressed with me if I landed it. Incredibly impressed they would be. I'd be amazed too.
