Hey Roddy, finishing up Horace's book and one thing that struck me was the bit where he mentions that Elvis Costello wasn't keen on your guitar playing and was trying to get you to leave.
Now I'm afraid to admit that I haven't read/heard all your interviews (sacrilege I know) so you may have answered this already, but what did you think at the time and have you seen him since and reminded him of this!

Yes i was told that but apparently Jerry vitoed him.. i guess i owe Jerry one* I always thought it was cause hed heard early 1960,s Ska and didnt hear my kinda guitar playing.. but we werent trying to revive the original music but take it somewhere else. Since those days jounalists have said several times that i invented Ska/Punk! But i always had problems in the band as in how much punk rock,n,roll guitar is too much? And some of the guys werent keen then and some still aint! But it seems to have caught on LOL..
