Jerry was never going to be happy with the reformation if he was not involved. I also think he has a point about making new music, whilst playing your old songs for maybe one tour would be good to keep on doing it and not coming up with something new screams of cashing in. Surely it would get a bit boring for you all as well just to keep on playing all the same songs.

Horace "It was absolutely extraordinary. The plan was always to concentrate on our first album, but I was still uncontrollably nervous for a day and a half beforehand. then the moment the roar went up and Neville launched into "Bernie Rhodes knows don't argue"........WOW!"

When asked about the future Horace said "Were keeping it open, we'd like to do short bursts of activity."

We will have to see how it goes.. I have some songs that with a bit of magic Specials dust(Brad,Lyn,Hoz,Nev,Tez) will work fine* Ild like to include a few things we have all done A.D. Dammers, like "Everywhere you go" which i belive was a funboy song? me ,n, Nevelle did a punk-ska version in the 90,s which kicked bottom.

Some of the 'Guilty 'Til Proved Innocent' songs would really take off with Terrys vocals.

Bit of a Brian Jones perhaps. He started the thing but couldn't carry it.

Can't understand why you weren't allowed to sing Concrete Jungle live, seeing as you sung on the record Talk about take the limelight away!

Sounds like a good idea to me, surely it would be a good use of the resources available to share the vocals.

Yep good write-up and Mojo seem to be fans as much as the rest of us!
Just looking at the Clash Article in it as well, can I say as a rampant heterosecsual that Paul Simonon was a handsome and cool looking baskard back in the day!

Very interesting to see The Clash and The Specials being mentioned together recently. To me they are my 2 favourite bands of all time. I believe that The Specials were the natural heirs to The Clash crown and were one of the few bands post 77 who truly represented what the original punk movement was all about (ie taking little bits from here and there and coming up with your own thing, both musically and visually, bringing black and white cultures together and standing up for what you believe in) They're probably the only two bands that successfully fused different styles and openly embraced different forms of music. Plus they both looked cool as fcuk. No surprise that the lads turned up on the On Parole tour, Strummer in particular was enamoured with 2Tone as he saw it as a positive response to what The Clash had started and still covered Message to You Rudy with The Mescaleroes and dedicating it to the 2 tone peoples at shows. Ranking Roger was also a frequent guest toasting on encores with The Clash during their latter tours.
More pertinently, it seems that both bands had the same diverse range of personalities, talents and internal tensions that no doubt fuelled the passion, energy and intensity, but which also led to their untimely demise. I also went to see The Clash minus Jonesy and Tops and it just wasnt the same, although the replacements could play the songs adequately, there was just something missing, it wasn't The Clash.
PS. Where you ever approached Rod about replacing Jonesy? I know you were busy around that time with The Tearjerkers but I had you down as an ideal candidate as you certainly had all the attributes (playing ability, dress style, experience and atStrawberry Sauceude) or didn't you fancy working with Bernie Bignose again?
