Has the original 'Dance Craze' album ever been released on CD? I know that there's an American CD of the album but that misses out all the Madness tracks and in it's place they use the Special AKA live EP and 'Carry Go Bring Come' by The Selecter. But I was once talking to a person from another forum who claimed to have a UK pressing of 'Dance Craze' on CD which included Madness. He even seemed surprised to find out that (as far as I knew) the album was never issued on CD in the UK. I put the person in touch with the 2 Tone info site and I remember he sent them a scan on the CD. The scan was never used as the quality wasn't great but from the picture he did send the CD did look genuine. The forum we both used to post on shut down shortly after and I lost contact with the person. So, does anyone one here have or know about a UK pressing of 'Dance Craze' CD?

To my knowledge it was never issued on CD format in the UK. Id guess it was tranferered from record to CD somehow.

The CD was bought from a record shop as I remember which makes me think it was a genuine release rather than a bootleg. Although some record shops do sell bootlegs as I remember picking up a copy of '96 Tears' album by ? & The Mysterians on CD from Fearnleys (local record shop) only to find out that it had never officially been released on CD at the time.. But I do remember that 'More Specials' came out on CD in the UK back in 1989 which is listed on the 2 Tone info website and is very rare - 2-tone.info/2tone.pl?display471So, I'm wondering if maybe 'Dance Craze' was issued round the same time?

I used to sell ska/punk vinyl etc on line and over the years i seen a lot of rare stuff, bootlegs, promo's etc, but i have never come across the Dance Craze CD, there are a lot of USA copies out there and lots of UK bootlegs and people claiming to own a copy. i would of thought if there was a original CD it would of come to light by now as it would be worth a few bob. And if you do find a copy how do you confirm its original and not a really good bootleg? , but maybe someome on here will know the answer.

When I had purchased mine at Dimples records, the cashier told me on a first hand basis that it was a bootlegged DVD. I said but of course and told him that I wanted it.
The footage and sound quality is really good for what it is.

The footage and sound quality is really good for what it is. The 'Dance Craze' DVD bootleg I got is also great quality. It isn't just a straight copy of the video as it's been cleaned up on a pc and includes a menu. The person who I got it off also included a DVD called 'Ska Beatz' and 2 audio CDs of all the songs on the Dance Craze film. The Ska Beatz DVD is a German program I think and includes some footage that wasn't used in 'Dance Craze'. Although one or two of the films clips are back to front unless The Selecter were all left handed. Talking of 'Dance Craze' reminds me of one of my mates who has a whole gig by The Bodysnatchers on video. But he won't do a copy of it for anyone, not even me. Might try again though as he is moving abroad soon.

I think the entire Specials footage should be dug up and released. A great live band, yet no official release of a full concert.
Does anyone actually know the venue and date?!
