Looks like a Mod/Ska revival could be on the cards if the shops are anything to go by. Just got back from Xmas shopping and saw Quadrophenia canvas art prints and target cups in the pound shop. Black & white checked sox, dog tooth trousers, prince of wales trousers, inch wide ties, slim braces, Dr Marten boot earrings, Fred Perry style polo tops with 3 buttons all at Top Man. And a 'Heavy Mod' CD free with this months Mojo magazine. I'd hate to look all trendy if a revival does take off. I might turn Teddy Boy although I'll find it a bit hard to grow a quiff.

on the question of a..s..s kissers, which ive only mentioned once by the way in a previous post, and do not keep going on about it, as stated. it looks like mr byers himself has answered that very question, in the topic,, guest passes and free tickets, those are the people im talking about,, people who havent for what ever reason given mr byers or his projects the time of day, or returned the phone calls, are now returning those calls and knocking on his door with the immortal line "" hello rod, long time no see, hows life, hows the familly, nice wallpaper in your hallway,, oh by the way i heard the specials are going on tour again,,, any chance of a freebie""" the only people that deserve freebies, apart from fam members are pete chambers for his support of all things musical here in the west midlands, (he interviewed my dad once, a 60's fender strat guitar player), so his taste is wide ranging and deserves a lot of respect. and the people who run the specials web site, whom i believe do it for nothing, but the love of the music and should be credited for keeping the specials and 2 tone in general alive and kicking,,, now how about that for a bit of b..u..t..t. kissing,, hahahaha..
mrconcrete
ps/ because mr chambers interviewed my dad years ago, can i get a free ticket and backstage pass, hahaha

i think u should pay what mr dankey wants,,,, 80 % to a charity of his choice, lets see how far he takes his socialist stance, and the rest to him in old arp synths and 80's fairlight samplers, so he can rerecord international jet set with kevin rowland in the style of sun ra meets tony bennett meets the art of noise.

It surprised me that he managed to get copyright of the name. As I heard it, The name of the band after Cov Automatics was 'The Special AKA', and 'The Specials' was originally a shortening of the former, so no-one can claim that they solely thought it up.
Call yourselves the Special SOS (six of seven) and sod him.

Its a funny one! Brad + Horace ,n, me never officially left and Jerry changed the name back to the Special AKA for "in the studio" album and also he never kicked up much fuss in the 90,s when we used the name for 4 yrs two albums and 3 singles.. Court in session..
