Well ive said this before butt... If you are not a very DEAR friend who has supported my SOLO bands dont expect backstage passes, FREE tickets for you and your family at the up,n,coming Specials tour! Im already being TOLD by people ive only spoken too once or twice to MAKE SURE! i put them and all their mates on the guest list and also PROVIDE back stage passes so they can hangout with the band and DRINK our BACKSTAGE REFRESHMENTS!! Those people have NEVER been my friends and probably never will be..

Stick to who you know, I guess. Not nice on band member families is it? Let the rest in for the soundchecks!? Watch out for security winding fans up outside after gigs to prove they're doing a job. Showbiz.

I think Lynval may be a little naive- I hope he is right but you should always err on the side of caution. The history of the bands gigs go before them unfortunately.
People will be expecting stage invasions thats the problem.I cant see you wanting that I assume.

Stage Invasions are dangerous and stop the show and theres always some drunken flanker who knocks your guitar out of tune or bangs a mike into yer teeth..

Stage Invasions are dangerous and stop the show and theres always some drunken flanker who knocks your guitar out of tune or bangs a mike into yer teeth.. I saw Pama International at a gig last year and Lynval was inviting the crowd on stage while saying "it's like 1979 all over again". I didn't get on stage myself as - a) The stage is for the band. People don't pay good money to see some pished up bloke jumping around the stage like a loon. b) The stage looked bit high and I thought I'd do myself and injury trying to get up. And here is the gig/stage invasion - uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6MOqWKY_Cy4

I'm hoping to get a couple of tickets each night for the Brum gigs, but I wish i could go to all the gigs with Kifaru as support band (shades of the Steel Pulse/Specials gigs there......).
Unfortunately as Terry's managers are running the show it's more than likely gonna be a couple of bands on their books. We'll probably be lucky if they actually play Ska to tell you the truth.

I think Lynval has a point, but theres always going to be the odd one and there maybe some younger excitable people. Im surprised as he was once brutally attacked - full credit to his optimism in people.
Security in my opinion should be used as a back up. It helps if the person they're protecting stays cool (as in West Side Story) - people in large numbers become tense if aggrevated or pushed aside. Ive seen fans and the 'artiste' feeling ten times worse - not worth it. Security guards are servile and want to please (in different inividual ways) each employer. Just thought I'd share that!
