Just seen this post, sad to hear that Roddy. Although this forum is getting to be a bit like a 'Ghost Town' itself, seems FB has led to the demise of fans forums :-(

I think a lot of us come to read what you've said, but haven't got anything to say ourselves, cos we're a bunch of boring old fluffers nowadays. :-(

A lot of comments on the Net that the Spareshells need too call it a day? I guess theres money too be made and if people want too hear the songs why shouldn't Terrys n whats left of the original band carry on?

Well I guess that's the crux, if people are willing to pay the prices to turn up to the gigs, then I guess the circus will roll on...

The Specials are my favourite band, I still go to a lot of gigs, they're playing less than half a mile from where I live, but I'm not going. That's got to say a lot, surely? Not without Brad at the back, and it's been too long churning out the same tunes now.

I think Terry prefers it without me n Neville as we were trouble makers in his view Also he really didn't like the Punk Rock,n,Roll element anymore so my volume became a problem - so he had the out front sound guy turn my Guitar and Vocals right down in the mix They should just call it Terry Hall and Friends

It was the worst thing about about the reunion gigs that your guitar was too low in the mix at the gigs and on the live DVD and CD release. It was at a reasonable level on the Glastonbury broadcast but I guess the BBC mixed that and as such it was probably beyond Terry's influence. Strangely (based on Youtube footage) they seem to be allowing Steve Craddock to be louder in the mix, but then he doesn't really have that rock n roll / punk edge to his playing.

I went to see them last week. Enjoyed myself, but it wasn't the Specials. Not much energy, except Lyn and Nik. Walked out during "We've Got All The Time In The World".

Yeah, the encore. Lyn had a good stab at Redemption Song mid-set, that was alright.

Lynval phoned last week much too my supprise! said he,d heard I hadn't been well and was thinking of jacking it in sometime in the next couple of years. He then told me about his illnesses and then I asked me to put him on the guest list for the my Coventry show at the Rialto... As he was the one who helped Terry nearly destroy me I said no... Love the bloke but I cant forgive him and probably never will
