Too favs too mention..but saying that theres alot of dont like too. The Clash tour was tough! but as we were youngsters going without sleep ,n, food and seldom even getting a bed to sleep in..wasnt too hard on us, the excitement got us through* The first thing was we had rarely played on stages that size, so using the extra space took some workin out. I must admit i borrowed a few stage moves off Mick, Joe and Paul , but they had borrowed alot from Pete Townsend and many others* It was a rock,n,roll apprenticeship, and they showed us the way when it came to treating our fans with respect*

How well did you go down with the Clash's audience? Suicide who were on the same tour had a real hard time from the crowd apparently!

The crowd for the Clash tended to be a lot of louts and smashers; something about "if it 'aint broke, break it".

Well a lot of the new young punks had got their Punk info from the likes of the Sun newspaper and other such rags..so the spitting and the like was a pain. But i dont remember much trouble from the Punk Rockers - it was just the Rightwing type Skinheads who seemed to think it was an away game Football fightin match. That was usually the south east not the North or West*

I never got the spitting thing....Totally vile...what ever possesed people to think that was in some way cool I will never know. The Stranglers used to deal with it by getting people who did it out of the crowd and humiliate them by spanking them.
