I'll just repeat this (well copy & paste it!) for here, my opinion of the new album - a big thumbs up from me!
I've listened to this album quite a few times now and I have to say it gets better every time... the 'rockabilly' style isn't really top of my list of genre choices, but then they're not a rockabilly band anyway - there's too much else going on in the music for them to be easily categorised. But I've always liked the Skabs and seen them live lots; and maybe I was biassed from the off, but if that gets a person into a band then it doesn't really matter.
Blues Attack is very well produced I think, and Roddy's voice sounds very smooth, you can hear each little inflection which is often lost in live play. My top favourites would have to be Doldrums, closely followed by Desire, Forgive & Forget, Another Rusty Nail, Judgement Day & Miss Green Eyed Blonde, which I've always been partial to (the track, not green eyed blondes!) Great band - old & new line ups all!
Highly recommended!!

Thats the trouble its not rock,a,billy or Ska or Punk or Blues.. Its a mixture of all sorts.. you have to have a open mind and be into a variety of music to get it!

Blues Attack the album..songs what they are about* 1. Blues Attack = I wrote when i was in the Bonediggers - sorta about Teemage angst/self harm and kids who want to top themsevles.. telling them to get up and fight back dont let the blues pull you down. 2. Black Zodiac = A car song but set in Camden town London, i was in a dark blue Zodiac in the mid 80,s with some friends cruisin round Camden. 3. Forgive and Forget = the only song apart from the instrumental Johnny Kumska which i didnt write. By my good friend Neil Hunter (from South End) wrote this song i played it in the Tearjerkers but did it in a Ska New Orleans blues style - a favourite of mine*

4.Doldrums = A slightly rude song about Werewolves and gettin yer rocks off in the woods! 5.Another Rusty nail = about my love affair with the States but also saying its hardly a perfect place. 6.Judgement Day = Another song from my Bonedigger days, about a man who drives his woman nuts until she murders him.. 7.Blue Angel = About a Dancer i met on Burbon Street New Orleans - say no more.

Thats always the best type of album, catergories can be unhelpful sometimes. I cant wait too hear this, stick me down for a copy. Ive just got too work out how to use Paypal (having been banned for years!!!).

8. Desire = recored this song three times before 1st as a country swing song demo with Tearjerkers then did it with Nick Lowe producing for Chiswick which i wasnt happy with as he slowed it down. Then as a pychobilly bop with the Bondiggers on "For those who died trying" C.D. and this version in a slow reggae grove which came about when i jammed it with Nevelle Staples while we were doing demos for the "Todays Specials" album at Lynvals studio in Coventry.

9. Lonesome no more = which is the only song which ive written for the misses -a sort of an apology for being a dirty stay out drunk on occassion! a buddy Holly disco Ska song* 10. This Cat needs a Kitten = from my Tearjerkin days, basically an Elvis Sun records inspired song with funny words.

11. Blue Guitars = a John Lee Hooker riff which goes into a travelog of where ive been and how the blue guitars kept me sane. 12. Right from wrong = Sorta Bob Dylan - blue grass with a hint of Squeese - well thats what it reminds me of..

13. Black Leather Jacket = did a Americana version with the Bonediggers but this is a Ska version or Skabilly if yer like. 14. Miss Green Eyed Blonde = no one perticular lady but a song of Desperation and Desire. 15. Lost Weekend = about when i had to drive the van back from London to Coventry up the M1 motorway towards the end of the Tearjerkers after drinking alnight in the winter time .
