Yep filthy habit but as i normally ONLY smoke one or two a day when not working i havent felt the need to give up. You do meet people by having to go outside or to a smoking area*

It does seem that it's a very social thing now - I have not smoked for 15 years or so but I find myself going outside with the smokers in our group and you do end up talking to people you wouldn't have had you all still been inside.

I was on the wagon all this week after caning it for 5 days the previous week in which I spent a small fortune and made a complete dic k of myself to a girl I have known for years, I basically declared my undying love for her which has soured our friendship somewhat and left me alittle embarrased. I also turned up at the job centre unshaven, smelling liek Id been sleeping in a ditch and couldnt sign my name properly as my hand was shaking so much. So I thought this week I would give it a rest until last nigth that is!!!. This story made me laugh, actually picturing you doing those things.... I know it's awful but it is the funniest thing I read today.

I know it's awful but it is the funniest thing I read today. Ive always liked and found funny reading about the actions of famous drunk people i.e the Ollie Reads, the Macgowans, the Otooles etc etc, Ive never seen much joy in non drinkers so I can see why you do find that funny and in a way I do now looking back at how stupid I was. Trouble is every 5 years or so for a few months I really loose it big time and end up doing stuff like that. I think im over the worst. Although Im not looking forward to signing on tomorrow now that Im clean again.

Yep but much as i like the likes of Keith Moon, playing in a band with such a character must be an absolute nightmare!

And as much as I like Brian Jones as a musician I can tell why the Stones sacked him. So Roddy has there been any Rolls Royces in the swimming pool stories from your time in rock and roll?. I remember reading in an article about Madness where Suggs and the General hired a speedboat and tried to jump some ramp and ended up getting the propellar stuck with much damage done, I cant remember where it happened but it was during the 2 tone tour. My biggest rock and roll moment was throwing a hairdryer at some Steps fans who who were standing over at the opposite hotel to mine shouting for the band at 4am in the morning - I missed by the way!!!.

I read that Brian used to pay himself more as so called band leader and stay in slightly better hotels in the early days - as i whispered in Dammers ear once " Tho art mortal Caesar" In.for.me they all got it in.for.me! The speed boat thing was at Montrea Jazz festival i think..funny how Jerry was against flash cars but didnt think hiring a speedboat a luxury???
