been thinking about how hard a skabilly forum day would be to set up ,maybe a couple of support bands,a dj and the skabs.all profits to go to a charity of roddys choice. obviously need a sympathetic venue that can be taken over for a full day could this be a go-er or is it just one of them "sounds good but will never happen" ideas

The thing is its not cheap to put a band on the road matey. Yeap theres the band and crews alcohol bill too start with. But if it did happen Id be happy to spin a few discs for gratis between bands. Some friends I know from another bands forum tried to set this up once, we were all gonna meet in Brum as I knew a free venue and people were willing to travel down/ up for it with some bands playing. It got really out o fhand and kind of got forgotten about after awhile, it eneded up as us all meeting in a pub in Bristol and going on a pub crawl.

Van hire, fuel , fish,n, chips and depending on distance B&B. Usually over a grand ,which compared to the Spareshells 100.000+ is a pitance.

Yes being in the gigging business is never cheap, I was surprised at how much sound guys get per gig and also the other backroom staff, you need to shift a good few tickets just too break even.
