Got a stones songbook out of the library yesterday, Im currently murdering "you cant always gget what you want", it seems "I cant always play the right chords".
Has the Specials DVD mix been changed to more of the live sound, or are the mixers still insisting on making a replica of the album mixes?.

Keef don't play standard tuning, and the last album I got was Some Girls, which is their last great album in my view.

If only i had a say... but then again ild be out voted.. "Some girls" - Dave Jordan (Specials producer/sound engineer) was the engineer on that one* His first wife Lyn says thats where he picked up his habit..

Keef don't play standard tuning, and the last album I got was Some Girls, which is their last great album in my view. I only found that out the other week after going on a guitar players forum, he does drop tuning or something, apparently its most noticable on Gimme shelter. You cant always get what you want the chords in the book are C, F, D mainly, but because of the tuning it makes them sound somewhat different. Ive never understood the benefit of tuning your guitar differently, too me it makes you sound inept at playing. Who'd play an out of tune piano?..........Les Dawson.

I believe he picked that up from Brian Jones who was making it easier for Keef to play with the rest of them without knowing what he was doing, or something like that.

I heard it was Gram Parsons? but its no great secret lots of git players use differant tunings especially for slide guitar.
