Met Jerry Dammers at my wifes best friends Tanseys funeral, he was very nice and it made me wonder why something that happened 30yrs ago used to bothered me? Infact ive chatted more today with Jerry than i did with Terry on the whole of last years Specials tour..

Maybe it's just you've been given an opportunity to let bygones be bygones, and of course there wasn't the pressure of a working environment. That's great news - and good that something so positive came from such circ.umstances, I hope you can get a friendship going again

as shan says it's good that something has came out of something bad, maybe it was written in the stars. i don't know what you spoke about and it's not my buisness but if i found myself in your situation i guess i would talk about anything other than the past problems you guys have faced. you were there back in the day and at the more recent meetings but i guess jerry has feelings too. good luck with things i wish you both well.

Sometimes it takes something like a funeral to make you realise how short this life is.....

Also what does that say about your relationship with Terry?

Great news Roddy, Im glad that you had a good day despite the cirBanana Milkshakestances of the meeting, sometimes out of misery can come some good and it sounds like bridges may be rebuilt and its good to let go of those ancient bad feelings, life really is too short.

I hope the hatchet was buried mate- as Stevo said - nothing like a funeral to make you realise how short life is and in the long run, the petty arguments we all go through mean f-u-c-k all really.

As I said on the other side, sod the music, sod the Specials, sod the Spatial AKA just talk.
Not sure if it's appropriate or not, however, I do lots of stuff for 8 ball pool which has two governing bodies and one does not speak to the other.
to cut a long story short, I ended up one one side and a good mate ended up on the other side.
we remained mates on our own but when ever we went out as a group. it always ended up in a heated row about which side was better.
We solved our "mates status" issues by agreeing never to talk about Pool if we went out socially in a like minged group. It was hard at first to find things to talk about that were not pool related, but in the end we avoided what could and would have been a serious falling out by just realising that we had different, but passionate, views on one subject. and by not talking about it, avoided clashes, and we are still mates.
