Well I got the Riga planar turntable from my old Shift leader when I was a YTS. He went digital, sold all his LP's and got them on CD, then sold all his CD's and went back to vinyl, then went back to Digital later on...he was a bit nutty to be honest, but I got a decent player dirt cheap!

Don't worry about the content, just change the packaging and consumers will keep buying it.

I really don't know which is the better sound - I guess its all down to the sound you like. Which is better? The band usually. It's always the band. ;D

Some of my favourite recordings were done with one mike in one take.

Just about all the music I love was heard live first and then I brought the recorded versions.
Live is best

Yes live is more real... thats why i was anoyed when the Specials reformed and most of the guys said we had to play the songs exactly like the recordings of 30yrs ago! We never played them live that way, they would continue to develope after the recording session was finished. Ive improved the way i play the old tunes i think. Rich Gals begining is slightly differant and theres an accent which ild put in during the time i played with the Bonediggers - Spot the change guys,n, gals*

Sounds like you could just play the records and make like marionettes.

Well I have to admit that I went to 10 of those 2009 gigs to hear the songs from my youth, but I never for one minute thought they were going to sound the same as they did then.
I can distinctly remember going out and buying the first album as soon as it was released, so based on hearing the songs played live loads of times I thought I was buying those sounds,
It was quite a shock to hear the studio versions and I remember thinking - oh this doesn't sound right at all,
It took a few plays before the Studio versions were ok to me.

Yes studios can be sterile and when you have a genius band leader who has a vision.. well that vision may not be to everyones taste especially if its youre song.

That goes with out saying really, to be told how your own creation should sound would be gauling at the very least.

I have just bought Live At The Moonlight Club 1979 on LP. What can I say that hasn't already been said? All I can say is it won't stay new and unscratched for long ;D
