You know, I've been told I need to read that. Think that'll have to be next on my reading list after I finish "Are We Rome?" which was written by the fella who did the Prince Valiant cartoon comparing America to the Roman Empire. Good read thus far.

I've been reading about a band that lasted two years and how it's younger fans have created an endless mythology about them over the ensuing thirty years and are now trying to indoctrinate their own children with it. Have you heard about that one? It's putting shekels into some peoples wallets though, while repeating the songs note for note. ;D

Hugh, that sits a bit heavy. They are still giving a lot of pleasure to thousands of people whatever the underlying politics and personnel clashes. ps and l am not a younger fan.

You bet. I just saw a recent version of Clever Trevor by the Blockheads which is a clever variation on the original. It takes much longer going the wrong way.

Also, you can see the Blockheads are enjoying all their years of hard work when they travel the road.

Been there done datt.. We once the Skabs that is, were going over to tour Ireland in a brand new hire van - got as far as north Wales "isnt it".. and the gear box broke - so after some smoke ,n, light refreshment we got a tow to the Ferry then towed off at the Dublin side then to a garage - sat in pub by garage all afternoon - then mad dash to Belfast for gig - on at 12 midnight arrive at quarter too - load gear on stage - great gig* Nerves of steel in this game yer need!

Hmm...you just got "Long White Cadillac" by the Blasters stuck in my head. Car woes on the road are never fun. A band I worked for's van let up on the way to San Fran last summer, and it was SWELTERING out. We wound up sitting on the side of the road while the keyboard player fixed the car because when the car let up, so did the air conditioning. ADVENTURE!

Aw, now THAT'S a helluva lineup! I have worn out very few CDs in my life, and my Blasters 2-Disc set is on that list. That's the soundtrack of my college years. Saw them live a few years back. Almost danced myself to death. Good stuff.
