I bought the Knack as a whim without hearing it. Didn't like it but they made the airwaves with it so probably explains as I don't much like the commercial radio tripe.

Frighteningly so. I have to keep my car radio on oldies or the local college radio station (KXLU, AKA the only station these days that has a psychic link with my iPod) in order to stay sane. If I don't, I just yell at the crap playing on the radio and look strange to people in the cars around me.

We (the UK) lost at some point the excellent DJ's we had and the radio stations that gave me my musical tastes and inspired me to go out and find the live music version of the tunes they played
No other country had a John Peel, Johnny Walker (pre walking out on Radio 1) or even a David Rodigan doing their stuff on national radio or Capital Radio in David's case.

I am going to be badgered for this but I have early 80's Madonna, you know... Lucky Star, Borderline.. I still listen to it when I'm feeling a bit 80s.
The bad thing about any radio stations, including the oldies. They just play the hits, mind you, those bands do have other songs.

Linda, you ain't alone, I've got most of Madonna's early 80s stuff as well. I have been known to clean house to "Lucky Star," sending the dog into hiding as I sing along. You're right about the hit parade of hell, if I judged most of the bands I liked by what single made it to the radio, I'd have a fairly empty collection. I always come back to retro, tho. Without tight white pants, thank yoooou...:-P

Doll, if I were there, I'd give you a hug. That's rough. My nightmares over the last three years tend to be so vivid that they require a glass of warm milk and a ball-peen hammer upside the head to get back to sleep after.
