Its best to get in early and work out wheres the best safests place where you can see, and also not far from the bar/toilets* depends on the venue layout of course.

I was well early for the Blackpool gig, even though live less than 10mins away. Had to retreat to pub as was raining and doors not open!!! Still waiting when went back, was one of first in and got good spot, know the venue so bar, loos etc was no worries but I forgot my Golden rule...never stand in the middle always stand just to oneside, for me always on the left as your lookin at the stage. I was so excited I just went up to the front, right in the middle n thats where the trouble was. If I'd started in a smarter place I wouldn't have been pushed so far back. I always like to be close, so there's no real chance of me avoiding some boisterousness

Yeah, I'm the same way about being right up front...except at Club Nokia, I had to do the photog's section first, and when that ended, security wouldn't let me into the main floor area to get stageside because I didn't have a "pit wristband"...even though I had photog passes and VIP passes all over me. Just goes to show...can't win 'em all.

Yeah, the security guy keeping watch that no one without a "pit wristband" didn't get to the front/pit area. They had a limited capacity on who could be in the pit, apparently. Rest of us had to stand on the sides or back by the bar. Lucky me, I could photograph some up in the VIP balcony...but no close up shots of truly good action shots were obtained after the struggle with the others in the photographers section to get as many shots possible for the mere three songs we were allowed to be there for. I wasn't about to photograph the Scooby Doo TV showing us in the back and on the sides what we were missing onstage. Hence...why I didn't have as many shots as I truly WANTED for the Club Nokia gig. It still tears me up a bit...
