My band did a tour of the north in the 80s in a small escort van- jesus christ.Nightmare.we had to sleep in it, all around equipment and stuff. Feet in yer face, sweaty and Superior Force Of Nature knows what other smells . we split up after that!

Yes the early days can be painful.. but being young you can take the sleeping rough.

Its like we would gig, then drink, stay up all night, have an hours sleep then start off the day feeling pretty fit! it would Scooby Doo kill me now LOL When youre on a big tour with the Shells- do you ensure you take things slower or does it still knacker you out no matter which way you approach it?

On tour recently i try not to over do it... but its hard not too after a show when you meet old pals and want to keep the show buzz still going. Lynval told me the other night hes gonna shadow me all the time to make sure i behave myself... trouble is hes usually fast asleep a couple hours after and pre-show.. Attack of the Z-men.

Its pretty much the same from this side of the fence as well, we have our pre gigs to get the "show" buzz going then the after parties to make it last as long as we can.
I am impressed with the fans cos we aint spring chickens but can still keep the party going to the early hours.

Trouble is you dont get three days after a gig to recover on tour.. every nights a friday night.

That is a very big difference, we as fans generally do get a lot of recovery time inbetween gigs.
I can't imagine how hard it must be to have to be "gig ready" every night on a tour. I doubt that I could do it

Them Old Black Blues players are made of tougher stuff! Besides they dont have to run around, dance, do highkicks and knee drops... ouch...
