Yeah that's a killer, it would frustrate the hell outta me, I like to explore.
Went to Pompeii on the train from Sorrento, did Vesuvius first then lunch in a local pizzeria then Pompeii in the afternoon. I've always been lucky not to get lost coz I can't say I speak much Italian lol.

I have had some fab holidays, really good experiences and nice hotels. I also believe a holiday is what you make it, I always make sure I get out, meet local people, see the area n that. I don't go for the organised reps tours - even though in the past I've mainly booked package trips as it was cheaper. But on tour you don't get to choose where you go or when I suppose.....it would annoy me to have been somewhere but not seen it. I hope I get a holiday abroad again one day

Sigh....its making me really really want a holiday.
I spend a lot of time swimming on hols and love going out on boats and snorkelling trips. Read an unbelievable amount of books, my hand-luggage is usually very heavy due to the number of books I take. Love lying on the beach in the Caribbean, reading and listening to the sea.
I've hired a Jeep last few times I went to the Caribbean and explored the islands, more beaches etc yup and ruins of forts n that.
Italy was always more of an out and about hol rather than lying on the beach as there was more to see and the beaches aren't sandy. Went to Sicily too and did Etna and some catacombs and a ruined amphitheatre.
