just a couple of questions Roddy
You seemed to favour a Gibson Les paul early on in your career. i was just wondering why? was it that you liked the sound or that it was used by favourite guitar players of yours?
If money was no object what would be your ultimate guitar and amp or do you already own it?
What are your favourite guitar solos on record? by other people or you can include yourself if that is the case.
Who is the best Drummer you have worked with?
Who is the best producer you have worked with?
just a few questions to contemplate....All the best.Steve.

You little muso you .. I saw paul Kossoff , Mick Ronson, Peter Green , Ariel Bender and several other teenage heros and they usually played Gibsons. Even tho fenders stay in tune better! I was hoping to get a Gretch White Penquin if the Spareshells reformed !!! They are Gretchs answer to the Les Paul-shape wise- very flash lookin art deco even. Amps ive tried them all lad..but i keep going back to the Vox A.C 30 top boost-as used by the Troggs, Beatles,Rory Gallahger and most 60,s beat combos. Guitar solos- were have yer got a month or so.. Love the solo on 2468 motorway , Hi-ho silver lining, oh dear ill be showing my age now if i dont stop! Drummer- well drummers are usually er tempermental chaps..Brad of course for the way he could switch from rock to reggae- Aitch Bembridge for his rockers reggae feel, Topper was the man too! and my new drummer Bear cause he owes me money.. Producer? well engineers are more use really, Dave Jordan-great bloke shame hes gone. I quite like having a go myself if the engineers good. cheers Stevo

Thanks for the answers Roddy.. I always liked the Telecaster due to various favourite guitarists....Mine's only a cheap Fender Squire tho...
Do you posses any Fenders?
I'll have to check out this Gretch White Penguin...Art Deco you say? You do have style my man!
Topper...what can you say...only stupid idiot for nearlly killing himself....He does not look good these days...Mind you he played a gig with Mick Jones recently.
You lucky boy seeing kossoff...with Free I take it....In Cov? Always thought Mick Jones got into Les Pauls because of Mott.
I have got a month or so...I know it's a bit anal but i do like hearing other people favourite solos....I still Love hearing Richard LLoyd's solo on "See No Evil" (On a Telecaster I believe.).
Hi Ho silver lining...I think you can forget that their is a good solo in there... Jeff Beck what a guy!
You never seem to play acoustic gigs...Is it because you never get offered them or you much prefer playing with a band? Always thought some of your songs would suit a stripped down version.

hi Stevo, i had a 1965 sky blue fender strat which i swopped for a gretch as it didnt feem right but like all those gits you trade-in on others i wish ild kept it. Also played a telecaster custom white with black srcatch plate for a couple of years in a couple of coventry blues bands-Jumpin Bad , Blue Dogs. sadly i swopped that too. Yeah shame some musicians get into smack ? - Topper etc.. never did myself but i had enuff probs with booze. never heard "See no Evil"?? Yes saw Free when i was a long haired freaky type 1972? - (blush..) Ive played a few acoustic shows-early Bonediggers -Threemenandblack. The PENQUINS A BEAUTY MUST CATCH ONE-SHAME ABOUT THE NAME THO.

Yes, agree the penguin is an atrocious name..have you had the pleasure of playing one yet?
What do you mean you have never heard "See No Evil" . Get yourself a copy of Television's Marquee Moon, the guitar interplay is wonderful, I never tire from hearing it.
Forgot you did a few shows Acoustic when the Bonediggers started, I even saw a few. Never caught the Threemen and black tho....

But do Gretsches stay more in tune than Les Pauls? With those dodgy Bigsbys? Would it be sacrilege to take off the Bigsby trem and fit a Floyd Rose to a White Falcon? Les Pauls have had a history of dodgy tuning with the G-string but if you know of a good guitar customiser, it might be worth fitting it with Buzz Feiten tuning system, specially if you love the feel of a Les Paul - now you can improve the intonation & tuning stability of it.
