Were you pleased with the way Braggin turned out? I've always thought the Vocals could do with bringing up in the mix a bit more. It does show that your style could be brought into the Specials sound, though i suppose it didn't fit into the general sound of More Specials.
I Don't think I have ever heard you play it live ...even with the Tearjerkers, when was the last time you performed it?

Well i was under pressure to make my own musical statement alongside Dammers musak. But i thought it worked out fine, without being a carbon copy of the Billy bands of that time. I wanted something of a bar room honky tonk feel, which Jerrys keyboard did very well.

Did you offer up more songs at the time that were rejected? I f so did these later make it into the Tearjerkers set? It does have a Honky Tonk feel, I agree.

There was the one Jerry said was not good enough! "Were only Monsters" which was a WILD BOYS song from 75/ with the imortal line - "IM NOT YOURE BOY NEXT DOOR BUT THE WEREWOLF DOWN THE STREET" where? My bros band the Wild Boys MK2 recorded it for the cherry red records in the 80,s.

Just found out the whole "Sent from Coventry" LP is available for download for £7.99 from the same site. Alittle bit about the Wild Boys MK2 here..http://coventrymusichistory.vox.com/library/photo/6a00cd978b8c9bf9cc00e398b643390001.html I didn't realise that "Were only Monsters" dated from 75!!! It would have been good to see what the Specials came up with for it. I don't really know a lot about the Wild Boys MK1 other than Pete Davies was drummer at some point. Who was in the band Roddy? As you started out in 75, you must have predated Punk, so did the bands sound change after you first heard Punk? Did you ever commit any songs to tape?

The Wild Boys were sort of Bowie-Lou Reedish i suppose? with quite alot of early rock,n,roll. But i agree with Jerry! "Monsters" wasnt really a Specials song what ever that means.. No recorded Wild Boys mk 1.

I have the vinyl as well, I love the Squad (Terry Halls old band) song Flasher. A chorus guaranteed to never make it on TOTP if ever I heard one............
