Was their ever a band that you would have liked to see signed to 2Tone back in the Day? I'm not sure that some of the latter bands were really up to scratch...The Appolinaires!!!

I didn't like UB40, thought they didn't say anything. Kinda schmaltsy.

I didn't like UB40, thought they didn't say anything. Kinda schmaltsy. Think thats quite an unfair comment! Tyler,Burden Of Shame, One In Ten, Earth Dies Screaming? Could go on but if you already know the content of these and many more of their songs you would realise they had plenty to say and would have made a good addition to 2 Tone. Only thing I would say is that they had less to say the more money they made until the political stance they first had has all but disappeared! Only thing left from their early days is of course their name!

Was there any effort to keep hold of the bands who made their debuts with 2 Tone. The Beat and, more so, Madness went on to have quite successful careers and I wonder if keeping them would have helped, label wise. Off this particular subject, Roddy, at the moment there is a lot of 'official' and 'not so official' merchandise on the market and I was just wondering if any of you guys have endorsed any of it or if you even have a say in what has The Specials name printed on it. I've seen everything from t shirts, badges, patches and even a picture disc of the first album. Who owns the rights to the name and image because it seems unfair if all seven of you don't benefit equally?

Ali Campbell must have liked what he heard surely...Otherwise why would he have signed you up. Kuff did not last for very long, if I remember.

I think Jerry want Two tone to be a launch pad for those bands, and Two didnt have the resourses to futher those signings careers. Merch? ask ...we lost well.. Lynval has recently tracked down the tee shirt thang and apparently we will all now get equal dosh. The Kuff deal came about thru Nevelles cover demos , which he gave to someone and that person met Alis managers in Jamaica on holiday - such is bizzness!

I just heard the "I've got you babe" and "Red Red Wine". That didn't do it for me.
