Some Girls was the last for me. But both the records on the charts by them and the Specials are old toons. The problem with the Stones is that they rely to heavily on the back catalogue, every time they tour they put out a live CD of inferior versions of old songs. They have lost the fire, "Bigger Bang" was generally considered to be weak. That said I do have a soft spot for keef's 1st solo LP "Talk is Cheap" it's not all good but it is miles better than some of the crap the Stones put out in the 80's. Mick could have had a good solo LP with Rick Rubin producing. Rick Rubin's idea was to hook jagger up with The Red Devils a very good chicago sounding blues band (Who included in thier number Blasters drummer Bill Bateman and occasional Blaster keyboard player Gene Taylor) and record old blues tunes but after a couple of days Jagger decided he wanted to do his own songs and thus gave us "Wandering spirit" his worst ever selling record. You can hear some rather rough versions of the Red Devils and Jagger here : members.home.nl/h.heikens/cd_jagger.htm

Never seen the Stones live and i guess never will? But what staying power! i cant imagine the Specials ever touring for as long or for as many years. Shame imagine the Specials message of black and white unity reaching millions instead of a few thousand Ska diehards*

Yeah, it would be good if someone in the Stones camp put out some of the better Stones performances, I'm pretty sure they must have a big vault full of the stuff. But don't hold your breath!

what kind of ticket prices will the specials be looking at for their concerts at the end of the year? are you going to keep the prices deliberately low, like you did for the 2-tone tour? apparently in those days, you could the specials, the selecter and madness for £3:00 at the Electric Ballroom. would prices be comparable?

Found the link below. Apparently it was in a Coventry newspaper column called 'Backbeat'. Whose idea was this? Is it working? <<A Special chart request IT'S nice to see an album chart with two Coventry bands in it (the Enemy and the Specials). However, there is a campaign to get the Specials in the single charts again with their original debut hit Gangsters. So to do your bit go to the link below and download Gangsters. It only costs 79p for goodness sake. www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/digitalProductDetails.do?ctx=-1;8;-1;-1&productId=6277521
