I saw the Chili Peppers in 1987 in a small club before they became huge stadium act, and I also saw Ba-ruce Springsteen in the Queen Elizabeth theatre in Vancouver in 1978 before he became a stadium act. Both were memorable shows.

Yes, this is hard one to answer. I have struggled to think of my answer. I can think of consitantly good performers I have seen..Richard Thompson..Jackie Leven (also one of the finest storytellers I have seen.)..a folk duo called Show of Hands.... But as for best performance this one comes close.... Bo Diddley at the General Wolfe in the early 80's..The vibe in the room was great, he had the audience in the palm of his hand. Good backing band in Eric Bells band.

Arthur Lee & Love when they played the whole of the 'Forever Changes' album. Magical. I never thought I'd get that chance to see Athur Lee live when he got banged up for 12 years. So I made sure I got to as many gigs as I could when he got released after serving half his sentence. Glad I did now.

The Stray Cats at Gazs rockin blues club in soho london when they first came over. It's always good to catch a band in a small club when they are on the way up, their always seems to be a certain energy in the room.

Hippy crap! bad food, porter loos, fields of mud, expensive crap beer and the bands are miles away. Carry on camping, how are youre doings? We did six weeks in 98/ with the Mk2 Spareshells living on a knackered old tour bus playing in parks and car parks miles away from a decent bar + food with very little money all over the states in rain ,100 tempertures , snow on top of mountains-it finished Horace off -he left. the Warp tour* great if youre 21 yrs and have tour support + a decent tour bus and a bit of cash. After the 6 weeks we did 3 more around europe, they wanted us to do Australia next and sleep in tents! spiders-snakes-tinger ,n, tucker?

Sounds like a nightmare! I presume this near enough finished the Specials MK2? What finished me off was Cambridge Folk Festival a couple of years ago...Their was a great line up but....people would arrive at the site early and grab a space near the front of the stage and stay their all day regardless of wether they liked the band playing or not. They then would either talk through a bands set and refuse to get out of the way..hence you end up miles away at the back of the tent where the sound just gets blown around....we left and came home early.
