I just read an old comment by Joe Strummer where he mentioned the best lineup was him, Jones, Simonon and Hedon with Bernie as manager, and I was hoping to hear your perspective on the man.

He used explain to the Coventry Automatics that a band was like a football team with the drummer the goalie, bass the full back etc etc .. So that would make me a left winger*

On his site he even has collected loads of good reviews for the last Clash LP "Cut the Crap"...how he has managed that I will never know, one of the worst LP's commited to vinyl.....

I agree it's a bad album but it does include the song that got me into The Clash which was 'This Is England'. I never listened the The Clash in the early days as for some reason at my school you could either like The Jam or The Clash but never both.

I always thought Weller was a Labour bloke. Im sure he did some stuff for the Labour Party in the 90s.

Weller was involved with Labour via the Red Wedge tour in the mid 80s along with Madness, Jerry Dammers, Billy Bragg and The Communards. But Roddy is right that Weller did say he'd vote conservative back in the 70s.
