When asked about Madness working relationship together he explains the way it works, then the interviwer says "why cant the Specials see that?" To which Mr Smash answers.....
"I quite frankly wish that they'd resolve their differences with Jerry [Dammers], and I recommend that Jerry just goes off and writes the Arnold Chicken Shortsing next Specials album and then says to them, 'Look, there it is.' With Jerry it always takes so long, but everything he works on sustains. The brass intro to Free Nelson Mandela - f___ me, is that uplifting or what?"
That has made me quite angry in a way, some of the best Specials tracks arent written by Jerry, seems like the "legend" of Jerry is still being perpetrated.
Oh well, back to my pint.

I have a lot of respect for Madness and Chas but that section of the interview is just crap and displays a total lack of understanding of any of the issues surrounding JD & the remaining Specials.
Anyway I think most people are of the opinion that Nik has played a blinder om the tours and is now part team Specials.
Furthermore, JD has missed the (night) boat to Specials land

I agree TTN it does show a complete lack of understanding about the whole situation. Chas could be accused of behaving like Jerry himself, I seem to remember there was alot of animosity towards Chrissy Boy afew years back which made Chris leave the band for what seemed like for good at the time, Chris put that down to not liking the dictatorial nature of Chas in terms of where Madness should be heading and also the insistence that all of Chas's tracks should be recorded in favour of the other members songs being done. I admire Chas for his songwriting skills, hes written some really beautifully melancholy numbers in the past for Madness and also for his solo projects and I admire that he was a driving force back in 1992 when the band made their 1st tentative steps back onto the gigging circuit, but with abit power comes corruption that ultimately rubs certain people up the wrong way. Ive never met Mr Smash or indeed Barzo, but out of the others barring Suggs (who I did meet and wasnt really bowled over by) I always thought that they would be the hardest too talk too. Barzo because hes ultimately quiet, Chas as I suspect theres a massive ego at work and I dont deal with prima donnas in any walk of life very well as my atStrawberry Sauceude is we are all the same regardless of what we do too earn our money, we are all heading for the ground one day.
Reading that back was abit depressing, my hangover this morning!!!

Met Chas a few times and he's a strange 1,really full of himself to be honest and not my type at all,Barzo was very quiet but not an Rather Large Bottom like Chas. You watch him play his Trumpet he's miles away from the mike and his vocal harmonies are awful.

Can you remember what year that was Roddy?, I'll have a look through the personal archives too see who we got that year, I suspect it was "Laxtons superb" a band that Chas discovered and wanted too promote in the year of 1995
