TOO TRUE! THE SPECIALS would not have existed without Jerry Dammers but.. they might of lasted a few years longer if Jerry had been a little bit more easy going? Sorry if im a bit byers,t.

Friends of mine who were in a band in the 80's to early 90's (That Petrol Emotion.) are in the process of reuniting, they are finding it hard, due to logistics (people living in different parts of the world) , Family matters (jobs, children, wifes ect..) and they broke up amicablly and are still friends. I can only imagine how hard it must be to get all 7 specials back in a room and wonder if you are going to come out out of it with your sanity. Regardless of who did what, what is wrong with a band going out on a tour and getting paid for it. Hell I go to work 5 days a week and expect to be paid for it. Being a musician is just another type of job and why should they not be paid for their work.

done some reading to find out what all this is about. seems like gerry dammers is 'the man' and all the rest of the specials are just Sir Sydney Shelf Stackered off 'cos someone had the vision for 2-tone and it wasn't necessarily them! in an interview with him that i found, he reckons that the specials never split up. just some renegades left him at the height of their fame. reading between the lines on this forum that sounds like the truth. please put me right if you think i'm wrong. but even if all that is true, why not try and re-create the 2 tone tour. the dance craze movie looks as though it would be the most exciting thing to see. everybody's much older now, so they wouldn't have to play for so long. i want to hear ska music as it should be played, not bands just milking the hits of the original scene

well said stevo good point you 2 ruder than you roddy me auld mate im holding up the white flag if i offended any one the last couple of days i apoligise any way if the chuckle brothers paisley and mc guinness can sit down over here and discuss the norths future after 800 years of conflict then surely the troops can approach the general compromise compromise on all sides thats the way we did it and it seems to be working Superior Force Of Natured luck for the future

If Two tone was the bands label why did both Brad and Nevelle set up their own labels? Race records-Shack records. Also Jerry has very recently registed The Specials and The Special A.K.A names. "Ferry across the Sherbourne" (coventrys river-stream)

i see so why as jerry registerd the specials and the special aka names is that to stop any members of the band doing it without him and using the name .... its taken him a long time to do that ....ie. like the specials mk2 which i thought were a good band especially the guilty album
