Bazza you star! I think the Blue Ox Babes will be getting a few spins once the CD's out. Always liked Dexys, but found Kev Rowland's voice annoying, now I've got the best of both worlds

[ Really? Sounds a bit to me like Dexys where Kevin Rowland "borrowed" the idea off Dexys co-founder Kevin Archer for the strings & brass sound after hearing a demo of his new band The Blue Ox Babes back in 1981. Dexys had a massive hit with 'Come On Eileen' and afterwards The Blue Ox Babes struggled to get a record deal as everyone said the sounded just like Dexys! They didn't release their debut single until 1988 but I've now heard that Kevin Archer gets some royalites off the 'Too-Ry-Aye' album. The Blue Ox Babes unreleased album will be coming out in 2009. Here is a clip of their debut single for those who've not heard them - uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JKUb7KorZfsGood spot pal, I enjoyed the couple of singles they put out on Go Discs, so thanks for that. There's been mentions in our local paper that Kevin Archer is skint and having to give guitar lessons to get by, so hopefully this will get him some recognition that he deserves. Do you know what Yasmin is up to these days?

Yes full size LPs on racks there for £3.99, cassettes too, 7" singles on the wall for £1. Some with their original picture covers, other in paper sleeves. LPs with free singles and EPs. Giving Nan your Christmas orders! They're selling them for an arm & a leg in second hand shops now.

Me and a mate broke into Rick Rogers office in the mid 80,s and lifted a bunch of Mor Specials - we sold em for 50p each for beer money...oh the shame the shame..

Do you know what Yasmin is up to these days? On the video comments Yasmin's brother says she is now living in New Zeland. I also heard that Kevin Archer was giving guitar lessons now to make a living. The other year Kevin Archer's gold disc for the best of Dexys came up for sale. Turns out that Kevin had sold it to someone from Germany when he was a bit short of cash. I mentioned this on the Dexys msn group and one of the people on there won the auction and then handed the gold disc back to Kevin Archer which I thought was really nice of them.

I never really liked the violins and the dungarees. For me The Bureau were the best thing that came out of the Original Dexys.

I must say that i do really like the extended "Stereotypes" on the "More Specials" LP, probably one of the most played Specials songs in my car.

Its only recently that ive been able to listen to "Stereotype" without feeling physically sick. Funny me ,n, Nevelle were having a jam in the studio at the Mor Specials sessions, i was doing my mock Flamenco while Nev was toasting ..well a hour later Jerry had a brilliant original idear Flamenco guitar + toasting on his new tune Stereotype..

Somebody I know claims Jerry stole the bassline/melody for the mighty Ghost Town off him. If I was him I'd be fưcked off too

Yes ive often wondered about Ghost town? the middle 8 vocal bit reminds of a Kinks tune.. But we all borrow sometimes unintentionally*

All music now is recycled anyway, only so many chord progressions etc that you can play. Eventually you start to hear things in songs where the composer didn't intentionally mean it. My old band the Gutter Cats had an original song called All my love, and recently while we were jamming a cover of Forget about you, the old Motors song, we realized they were exactly the same chord progression/key. I didn't even realize until the new guitarist pointed it out
